Melissa is a mountain guide, six-time Everest summiteer, and the first American woman to summit and descend Everest without supplemental oxygen—one of only about 200 people ever to accomplish the feat. She has summited Mt. Rainier more than 100 times, completed over 20 expeditions in the Himalaya, and co-founded the Juniper Fund to support the families of Sherpa guides lost in the mountains. She's also the author of the book Enough: Climbing Toward a True Self on Mount Everest. Melissa lives with her husband Tyler and their two kids in Washington's Methow Valley.
