Sustainability
The Nemo Moonlite is a top choice for sustainability among camping chairs. The Moonlite incorporates a range of low-impact materials, including 100% post-consumer recycled webbing and mesh. Additionally, both the reclining hardware and seat mesh are Bluesign approved, further reducing the chair’s environmental impact. The Moonlite is not treated with a durable water-repellent (DWR) coating, and, as of 2025, all Nemo products are PFAS free.
At the brand level, Nemo tracks its greenhouse gas emissions and is committed to a 50% reduction by 2030. As of 2023, it had already cut its emissions by 36%. The company publishes a comprehensive annual impact report detailing its progress toward sustainability initiatives, ranging from packaging reductions to the use of lower-impact materials. It offers in-house repairs, a parts replacement system, and resale services through its partnership with Out&Back. This said, Nemo is not part of a third-party responsible manufacturing program. All in all, however, we are impressed with the brand’s dedication to sustainability and the low-impact design of the Moonlite chair.
Below we break down in detail all of the Moonlite's sustainability attributes at the product and brand level, including links to in-depth articles on relevant topics. For more, see our guide to the best camping chairs and our review of the Nemo Moonlite.
