Sustainability
Updated:
Jan 23, 2026The Patagonia Nano Puff Hoody impressively meets all of our sustainability criteria for synthetic jackets. It uses 100% recycled polyester for both the shell and lining and features PrimaLoft Gold Insulation Eco, which is also made from 100% post-consumer recycled polyester. This insulation is also produced using P.U.R.E. technology, which reduces carbon emissions during its manufacturing process. All fabrics are Bluesign approved, and the jacket is treated with a PFAS-free DWR. It is also produced in a Fair Trade Certified factory, meeting high standards for social responsibility in production.
Patagonia’s efforts behind the Nano Puff go well beyond materials. The jacket benefits from the brand’s comprehensive circularity infrastructure, which includes extensive repair services, product end-of-life recycling, and a secondhand sales platform, Worn Wear. The brand publishes robust sustainability data on its website and continues to push toward net-zero emissions by 2040, one of the more ambitious carbon reduction goals across outdoor brands. Patagonia also uses entirely recycled Forest Stewardship Council-certified or post-consumer waste packaging materials. These combined efforts make the Nano Puff a clear standout as a low-impact synthetic jacket.
Below we break down in detail all of the Nano Puff's sustainability attributes at the product and brand level, including links to in-depth articles on relevant topics. For more, see our guide to the best synthetic insulated jackets and our review of the Patagonia Nano Puff Hoody.
